DESCRIPTION

Completed in 2016, the Hancock County Sports Complex is a large-scale recreational facility located on a ±90-acre site, strategically positioned between the cities of Bay St. Louis and Waveland. This complex is easily accessible to the entire population of Hancock County, offering a central location for residents and visitors alike to enjoy recreational activities.

This $12,000,000 dollar sports complex was built in response to the pressing need for a countywide recreational facility, particularly after the loss of many public spaces and services due to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. None of the local governments within Hancock County had the financial resources to rebuild or replace the full range of facilities that had been lost, so the development of the sports complex was crucial in restoring access to sports, fitness, and community gathering spaces.

The facility serves as a key asset to the county, offering a wide range of sports and recreation amenities that benefit the entire community. It not only provides the region with essential sports infrastructure but also helps bring people together, fostering a sense of community and resilience in the aftermath of one of the most destructive natural disasters in the area’s history.

The Complex will be constructed in 5 different Phases to include recreational facilities as follows:
