Description
In 2018, under the leadership of Mayor Jamie Mayo, the City of Monroe, Louisiana, launched an initiative to explore the development of a new multi-purpose indoor sports and event arena. As part of this ambitious vision, the city engaged Mc3lroy Architecture, PLLC to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study and develop a concept plan for the proposed facility.
Mc3lroy Architecture was tasked with creating a practical, market-driven, and financially viable development strategy. The scope of work included determining the appropriate size, seating capacity, programming, and functional uses of the arena, along with projected construction costs and revenue potential. The goal was to design a facility that would not only meet the city’s recreational and entertainment needs but also serve as a long-term economic driver.
The proposed Monroe Event Center was envisioned as a versatile venue capable of hosting a wide range of events-including concerts, sports tournaments, conferences, and community gatherings-with the added value of functioning as an emergency shelter when needed.
This study and design proposal reflect Mc3lroy Architecture’s expertise in strategic planning, civic engagement, and the creation of multi-use public spaces that enhance community life and economic vitality. – Not Built
