Project Description:
In 2017, McElroy Architecture was engaged by the City of Canton to evaluate seven city-owned land parcels for the development of a comprehensive Master Plan to support the community’s administrative, recreational, and event-based needs.

The resulting plan proposes a Multipurpose Event Center as the centerpiece of the development, supported by recreational amenities including one baseball field and two soccerfields. The vision includes not only recreation and entertainment but also government and civic services.

The proposed 62,500-square-foot Event Center is designed to accommodate up to 4,000 people, including 3,000 fixed spectator seats and 1,000 flexible seats on the event floor. The facility is planned to be highly adaptable for a wide range of uses, such as:

  • Exhibitions & Trade Shows
  • Sporting Events (Basketball, Tennis, Boxing)
  • Convocations & Small Concerts

In addition to its function as an event venue, the building would house administrative office space for the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, as well as a small police precinct, allowing for integration of municipal services into the community hub.

The master plan reflects a holistic approach to civic development-prioritizing flexibility, economic development potential, and community engagement.-Not Built
