The initial scope of this project was to replace portable classrooms with a 5,500- square- foot addition, featuring four classrooms, and electrical closet, and an intermediate distribution frame (IDF) room.
The new addition was designed as a double-loaded corridor, seamlessly connecting to the existing building with classrooms on both sides. The exterior walls constructed with concrete masonry unit (CMU) backup, glass mat sheathing, a vapor barrier, and brick veneer, following the architectural aesthetics of the existing structure. Each classroom was designed with natural lighting and operable windows, a feature proven to enhance student performance by approximately 15%.
