DESCRIPTION

Mc3LROY Architecture has extensive experience in the renovation, retrofitting, and adaptive reuse of existing structures to extend and enhance facility functionality. This expertise was strategically applied in the preplanning and renovation of a 1960s, 253-bed dormitory.

Key improvements in the project included:

  • Enhancing building efficiency by improving window and door seals.
  • Restoring the elevator system for improved accessibility.
  • Addressing environmental concerns through hazardous materials remediation.
  • Installing a new HVAC system to ensure a comfortable living environment for students.
  • Redesigning major lobbies and elevator lobbies to enhance functionality and aesthetics.
  • Upgrading and modernizing bathroom facilities.
  • Reinterpreting exterior elements, including enclosing outdoor plazas and installing a new standing seam roof.

The project was completed in 2004, revitalizing the dormitory into a modern, efficient, and comfortable
student living space.
